transition.
i can’t believe august is almost over… and so is my month of ”transition.” steelhead was on 7/31 and while on vacation i found out that the park city point to point wasn’t going to happen so i started toying with the idea of doing the santa barbara long course triathlon on 8/28. beth and i both decided it wasn’t in the cards for us for various reasons. that left me with the whole month of august to train/live without an immediate racing goal…. transition time!
so with nothing on the radar i have been continuing to log tons of miles on the bike with beth in her Kona prep and doing whatever swimming (only 3 swims!) and running i feel like. this past sunday was the longest ride (mileage-wise) that both of us have ever done. 120 hot, hilly miles with Charisa and Nick… good times. sunday’s ride was my 7th 100+ mile ride since 7/3. It’s definitely becoming easier physically to log these long rides but even more so mentally.
nick. long rides call for serious nutrition.
i have been trying some new things and schedules so when it comes time to focus on another race i will be ready to go. i have pretty much been eating whatever i want not turning down any invites to happy hour! Just enjoying summer.
The plan is to do the Silverman Half on 11/7 and next week will be 10 weeks out, which i feel is more than enough to turn what is the best cycling & running base I have ever had into some half ironman speed. the course is HARD and that’s why I want to do it. i had a way faster race at steelhead than I anticipated and now I want to challenge myself with a hard course… the time means nothing. training for silverman and the upcoming cross season is getting be pretty excited to race.
i have a lot of other stuff going right now and just trying to keep it under control… but it’s all good things.

Is Silverman the race that Dave Scott is behind?
Enjoy Silverman 1/2. It’s a good one. Just get ready for some wind!
Silverman 1/2 looks GNARLY. I’m torn between that and the “In the dirt” triathlon that same weekend in Temecula. Holly’s pushing for Vegas…
I saw that Monday long run and thought that’s just a nice brick. You’re killing it. Really unusual. Go Pads!
